The current tense political predicament is inevitably clouding some views on the market but operators around the world are continuing to acquire and dispose of widebodies. A temporary fall in traffic is to be expected during the conflict but a subsequent change to the new agenda will serve to restore confidence and allow bookings to return quickly to pre-conflict levels. The demand for newer widebodies still remains weak though the acquisition of a number of B747-400s from United by Thai points to a market that is experiencing some expansion, albeit fragmented.
