The 1,000th A330 has been delivered to Cathay Pacific representing a major milestone for the program and further underlining the stability in values. Even 10 years ago, the delivery of 1,000 A330 aircraft with another 250 on backlog would have been considered to be optimistic in view of the then some 561 A300 deliveries that were secured over the course of nearly 40 years. In contrast to even five years ago, the A330-300 is enjoying the greater number of deliveries and orders. In the first six months of 2013, there were eight orders for the A330-300, significantly down from previous years, but still better than the zero registered for the -200 and -200F. There were 28 -300s delivered in the same period versus 21 -200s and five -200Fs. Total orders for the -300 as of the end of June 2013 stood at 631 for the -300, 576 for the -200 and 45 for the -200F, a total of 1,252. While there are some 75 -200s remaining to be delivered, there are some 160 -300s outstanding and 23 -200Fs. The 631 orders for the -300 compares with the 422 secured for the B777-200ER. There have also been in excess of 800 A330 orders placed since the launch of the B787, slightly less than the number of B787 orders.
