Market Presence. The B767-400 was not a success for Boeing and indeed the aircraft quickly became marginalized. With only two operators the aircraft is likely to remain with existing operators for some years to come. The values of the -400 have not performed well though they are largely theoretical given the concentrated operator base. The experience of the DC10-10 and B767-300 should give an indication of how values of the type will behave in the future once either of the current operators divest themselves of the fleet – they will be scrapped. Delta Air Lines is currently operating most of its -400s with only four being listed as being in storage. This compares with United who are operating only a single -400 with all the others bar one being in storage. However, United appears to be bringing the -400 out of storage.
