Market Presence. The -400 has now all but been consigned to history – and movies. The type has even less relevance in an era of high fuel prices. The lessors essentially bypassed the type because of the limited opportunity for remarketing. The lease rentals are perhaps whatever a prospective lessee wishes them to be. Even before the Covid Event, the market for the -400 was destined to suffer from the “Museum Effect” whereby the only source of demand would be as an exhibit. The pandemic accelerated the process and as such any lease rentals are somewhat irrelevant not least because of the high price of fuel. Rossiya is managing to keep some -400s flying but there is no future for the type.
