Market Presence. The latest United order offers an injection of interest for the beleaguered -8 but such attention is far from widespread. The type is facing considerable problems in terms of both new orders, delivery rates and lack of interest from the used market. The values for used aircraft are therefore falling even as the market for the widebodies improves. The market for the -8 has not been sporadic but weak. From the very first moment the -8 was launched there was an expectation that demand in the medium term would falter as more capable variants were introduced. Even though the international market is seeking newer aircraft types, the restarting of B787 deliveries is making the -8 less attractive.
